Quando si visita il lago di Garda vale la pena visitare le tipiche Limonaie.
Per oltre quattro secoli il territorio del lago di Garda, in particolare la sponda lombarda che va da Toscolano Maderno a Limone, ha visto un’intensa produzione di limoni e di arance.
Il clima mite e la costruzione delle prime limonaie nel 17° secolo favorirono il commercio di agrumi verso i Paesi dell’Europa Centrale che in questo modo potevano avere i frutti in tempi più brevi e a un minor costo rispetto a quelli prodotti in Sicilia.
A Limone del Garda è possibile visitare la Limonaia del Castel, costruita nel primo Settecento e tornata in uso grazie all’intervento del Comune.
Oggi vengono prodotti una settantina di agrumi, tra cedri, limoni, aranci, chinotti e molto altro.

For over four centuries the territory of Garda Lake, in particular the Lombard shore going from Toscolano Maderno to Limone, has seen an intense production of lemons and oranges.
The mild climate and the construction of the first Limonaie in early 1600 favored the trade of citrus fruits towards Central European countries which could get these fruits quicker and cheaper than those coming from Sicily.
In Limone del Garda you can visit Limonaia del Castel, built in the early 18th century and now returned to be productive thanks to the intervention of the Municipality.
About 70 varieties of citrus fruits are produced today: cedars, lemons, oranges, chinotti and much more.
